Has anyone with side exhaust heard this???

I have a really weird situation that I hope someone else has experienced. I have a factory equipped side exhaust 69 427 car. I bought the car intending to replace the exhaust because both pipes were in pretty bad shape. The exhaust sound was normal for a standard loud side exhaust car. There were no other weird noises associated with the car or exhaust. Stupidly I discarded the old pipes. So, I replaced the exhaust with Corvette Central pipes and now I have a bizarre whine or waling that sounds like it's associated with the exhaust. It is not the engine or belts or any of the standard noise offenders. I switched to Allen's Quiet exhaust. The noise was seriously diminished but it was still there yet the actual exhaust was louder. I am just short of positive the noise is produced in the exhaust. I switched back to the CC exhaust because it is quieter than the Allen's so I live with this crazy waling noise. I also hear metallic tinking in the exhaust while the engine is running similar to heated metal cooling but it's not cooling! Driving me crazier, anyone ever hear things like this?

I had the 69 side exhaust on my 1970 for many years, I used the GM available mufflers that only got louder the longer they stayed on the car. No noise like you have described.

Brad,

Two companies with defective exhausts!!!! Sounds like that should be impossible BUT it's not!!!!
Consider yourself lucky you don't have a C-2 side exhaust. It's a lot worse than the 69 and up!!!!!
Only choice you have is to find a GM side exhaust to have the real sound back.

Don't worry about the noise, they say if you drive a side pipe car to long you won't be able to hear anything any more.
Supposed to be a smile behind that but not on my I pad!

Brad had a blapping sound in my 66 side exhaust 300 hp car for years it finally drove me crazy . I put an under car exhaust system and it still did not go away. After reading every thing I could I was looking in a parts book and saw that I did not have the metal gasket between the carburetor and intake that was unique to 300 and 390 HP cars. after instating the sound went away and the side exhaust is back on the car.
