    screw head?

Screw #9427723 is a black phillips machine #8-32 thread. But what is the head type?

Also screw #3843505 is a black phillips #8 sheet metal thread. But what is the head type?

And finally #9414754 is #8 phillips sheet metal I think oval head jackson (#6 head size) but is it black or zinc plated?

    thank you

      Hi Gene,
The first 2 rang a bell.
      723 is the wiper grill.
505 is the Astro vent grill.
      Working on the third!
      Regards,
      Alan

The 9414754 is used on 68 for the door and jamb plastic and metal guide plates.

Can't be of much help. The 9427723 and 3843505 were never available in SERVICE and I don't otherwise have any specs on them. The 9414754 was once available (until February, 1982). It had a CHROME finish.

Thanks Joe, chrome makes sense. I was looking at original screws and I was seeing silver. I assumed zinc, but chrome would be better looking since it is visible as entering and exiting car.

I found some old notes of mine in which I somehow came up with the specs on the 3843505. I can't figure out how I did this, but, apparently, I did. This screw is an 8-18, black phosphate-finished. It is FLAT phillips head, countersunk style and the head is 1/4" in OD.

The 2 screws in the pictures Alan posted are very unique. The wiper door grill screw has a Fillister head and usually a self cutting notch Not being reproduced correctly and the astro vent screw has a special taper to the countersunk area and a flat underneath to fit exactly into the grill mounting hole, again not being reproduced correctly.

Yes they are. The heads are smaller than standard #8 hardware. I solved this by turning down the Flathead and Fillister heads of standard screws on a lathe. Followed that by a flat black spray. This is a sickness........!
