Exactly where does the loom go on the gas line. I was told it was roughly 22.25 inches from the tank end of the line. Is this correct and should it be glued in place? Also does the spiral armor go on the kick-up area prior to going into the frame?

Dave, from what I remember on mine the loom went through the frame. My gas line was rusted almost all of the way through inside the loom and it was hard to tell if the loom was glued in place. I think the spiral was in the kick up area, but I don't have my pictures for that with me right now. Hopefully others will chime in, maybe With some pictures.

Photo below shows a typical fuel line with the spiral armor adjacent to the kickup; the armor came to the plant already assembled to the fuel line. The Assembly Manual shows a sprayable adhesive used on the loom to the portion of the pipe inside the frame rail.

John, Was the purpose of the loom to prevent rubbing of the gas line on the inside rail? The loom is not that long where it would cover the entire length of the gas line inside the rail, so is it positioned on the gas line somewhere in the middle of the frame rail?- Top

The loom was supposed to stop any rattles between the line and the inside of the frame along that unsupported section inside the frame; they probably determined the placement and length of the loom based on witness marks on lines removed from durability cars. Really poor design, fixed for 1968.- Top
