Do you think it could be EcoBoost technology wasting our brain power to gain an advantage while we try to figure out what it is ?
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance

I usually throw stuff out, but found the old valves from my 1973 rebuild on the '54 motor. The contraption is on the intakes only and the seal appears to be some sort of impregnated fabric, like a rope seal. Some are ragged and some are fairly smooth. The seal is pressed into a two piece steel cup assembly that slides on the valve stem. Well, some slide, some are stuck, but they are not fastened to the stem, nor do they have a key, as they are free to rotate. There are no markings or logos on the valve. I assume they are not factory pieces. The odd thing is that one would have to remove the cylinder head and valves, and then install these springs and seals. After all that work, why not just replace the guides? Here is a picture.

How about that! I responded earlier that I thought the upper part on mine was pressed on, but it was probably just rusted in place and should have been free to move up and down on the valve stem.

Mine were also intake only and have V2091 on them. The exhaust valves have GM on them.
