    Carter AFB

    I have a Carter AFB carb, given to me by a friend. The only numbers on it are a 1465 on the top and a 1565 on the side and Carter AFB on the side of one of the fuel bowls. He said he thought it was from a 63 Pontiac 389.
    I'm looking for something for a 63 327-340. Anyone able to identify this one. It looks like it's never been touched. Original dirt and all.
    Thanks
    JBM

    John;

    Check the front mounting foot on the right (passenger) side for a model number.

      Stu, There is a 450 there, that's all.

        John;

        Not all AFBs are alike or interchangeable. You will want to check all connections to be made, including fuel inlet in the right (choke side) front, PCV pipe tap at the rear, vacuum advance fitting at the center front, choke assembly position, throttle linkage, etc. Just because it may be from a GM product doesn't mean it's an easy application.

        I will look for my AFB model records to see if there is one model with a 450 in it. Usually every time I check the list I add a new one.

          Stu,
          I just did a Google images check on 3461s and this one is quite different. The fuel inlet is on the drivers side rear so it's not even close. Thanks for the replies, I'll keep looking.

            John;

            The only hits I found in my AFB listings that contained Models with "450" in them were mid 60's Buicks. I don't have much on Pontiacs.

            You are best off staying with Corvette series 3460's or 3720's. The latter series are quite plentiful. The former not so much, I.e. Hard to find and very expensive.
