    63-67 coupe window runs

Are the window runs supposed to one peice onto the lower rear track? Or are you to cut it and place it into the rear track. Trying to install the side glass and when you roll the window down the window run is folding in on itself right below the top of the door where it meets the lower track.

    Keith,
I'm not sure I understand all your question (the folding part). The fuzzy channel runs across the top and all the way down the rear side as one piece. You have to make sure the steel channel mounted to the door is in line with the path in the upper part of the door. The front one is one straight piece. This also needs to aligned to allow easy passage of glass assembly. It is critical for easy window operation to have the sash lower molding brace and trim positioned on the glass correctly. So take careful dimensions to duplicate assembly.

      Gene.
Thanks the fuzzy channel is not staying in the track. And when I roll the glass down the glass is running out of the fuzzy part in the back. I will just have to keep on tinkering with it until I get it right. My biggest question was weather it stayed in one peice or not. The last time I did this was 15 years ago.

63 did not run all the way down the door 64 67 did. There should be clips that are on the top and side and clips down in the door for 64-67

It sounds like the glass may have separated from the lower sash. The adhesive may have dried out and released the glass, so the glass is moving forward and away from the rear channel as it's going down, and it a;so sounds like your rear channel felts are loose.

In order to remove the glass, raise the window up, then remove the rear channel by removing the 2 rear screws at the end of the door, then lower and jog the track forward out from under the sash. Then you can get the window in position to remove the glass/sash assembly.

But I can't recall if the vent window assembly has to come out before the sideglass, or vice versa. I did this on our '63coupe a few years ago, and IIRC I had to release the sideglass down into the door to get the vent assemblies out. I DO remember it was a all day+ task for both doors, plus replacing ALL door and vent weatherstrip.

Also, your rear window felts are probably worn and loose, so if you're going to take it all apart it'll be time to refresh that too. When you do, the felt wraps up and over the top edges and is glued to the sides for a inch or so. Below is a '67 convertible glass menagerie but I think similar in principle for the coupe.

I am putting the door back together for restoration. I have new window felts sold by LIC. One problem is that the lower window run will not clip into the lower channel.

Rich are you saying the glass is glued into the sash? Te got ribbon from a local glass shop that you place over the bottom of the glass and press into the sash.

Also Rich is your second picture you show black "L" shaped parts. They are not in our box of goodies that came with this car. The bad part is dad and I got this car torn apart.

Keith, The pics are from a convertible and may be different on your. What year is yours? Not in your profile and your avatar is too small. There were many variations of door part on the midyears.

If the glass is apart from the sash yes you can get "glass tape" from a local shop. If you have to do this make sure it's in the right spot on the sash. There may be telltale marks on the glass showing where it used to live.

On your lower run clip issue. I've had repros where the clips are not in the right position and have to move the clips. Don't be surprised if you need to do that.

It's a 67 coupe. The other clips lined up surprisingly.

Make sure you have the glass positioned correct in the sash so the assembled window is NOT hard to crank. The other extreme is too loose in the channels.

The window seemed to be in the sash correctly. It worked fine until the run came out of the lower channel

The service manual is pretty good on the procedure for installing the window. I believe there is 2 rivets that retain the lower part of the window run to the lower channel. Get your window in and up and then rivet the run to the channel then attach the channel to the door.
