Does anyone know when in the '57 production line the 270 HP engine was cut in?

Re: '57 270 HP Engine
Greg,
AFAIK from 1st day of production 270 HP engines were available. 270 HP engines are in all of the early 1957 Chevrolet and Corvette literature I have.
2626S (front) and 2627S (rear) 1957 2x4 carburetors were introduced in October 1956 carburetor production date. Early 270 HP engines probably used 1956 2x4 carburetors 2419S and 2362S.

Re: '57 270 HP Engine
I prefer the latter with the air idle, except the cross cut manifold of the 57 was a step in the right direction to address the lean cylinders condition of the 56 manifold. To do it right, you still must jack up the carbs with cross cuts another 1-1/4".
Having already developed the 225 and 240 hp 265CI engines in 56, it wasn't much of a leap to adapt the 2 x4's and solid lifter cam to the 283 CI.
