    c1 Deck Lid Moulded ends?

I am putting together a 57 and while fitting the deck lid I find the front ends want to sag down when latched. I am learning the 61-62 has molded ends. Would that would support the deck lid in the front corners?

With the convertible top hinged in place and closed, it fits fine all around the body except where it meets the body at the hard top receiver area. In this area it drops too low when latched.

I see the 61-62 has molded ends in this area. Perhaps a design change to act as a bumper stop?

My question is would the use of 61-62 weatherstrip be a solution and act like a bumper stop. Originality is not a concern, function is.

I assume when you say "molded ends" you are referring to the deck lid (convertible top or gas tank lid) weatherstrip.
The weatherstrip with molded ends was used on all C1 Corvettes, I believe.
Many suppliers now sell straight weatherstrip without molded ends because it is easy and cheap to make.
But to answer your question, I do not think that the molded end weatherstrip would do anything to hold up the ends of the deck lid.

Yes, I am referring to the weatherstrip. I assume the earlier weatherstrip does not have molded ends.

I have a weatherstrip from my 57 Corvette and it has molded ends.
I believe all GM weatherstrip had the molded ends.

Is the molded end dense enough to act like a stop?

                Louis,
I have attached some pictures of the weatherstrip. The flat area which goes against the body is about 1/4 inch thick and compresses to about half that thickness.
The thicker vertical part will also compress about the same.
I really don't think that would support or push the deck lid ends up much.
You might cut some small hard rubber shims , put them at each end and see if that resolves the misalignment when the deck lid is latched.
If it does the shims could be attached to the body or decklid and then the weatherstrip installed around or over the shims.

                  Bruce:

is this a 61-62? Looking at CC catalogue they have 53-58, 59-60, and the 61-62 w/ molded ends. CC indicates 59-60 ($15) type does not have molded ends. I would assume that holds true for the 53-58 as the price is $13 verses the 61-62 is $49. With molded ends.

I believe the weatherstrip I took pictures of is from a 57, but it could have been later as I have boxes of old weatherstrip from many C1 cars.
