I'm working with a restorer on a '70 big block automatic and we are installing the vacuum modulator line that goes from the transmission to a tee on the intake manifold. The question I have is, does this line pass outside of the passenger side bracket for the RFI shield over the distributor, or does it pass between the distributor and the passenger side bracket? It looks to me like it could go either way. I've been looking for pictures and anything else that would answer this question for me but I can't find any. Your help will be greatly appreciated!Randy C.

Re: '70 big block auto transmission modulator line
I'll be replacing the line on my car soon. Right now it's a rubber hose that is hardening. I have the original one but it's messed up, can this line be installed with the engine and tranny in place? Looks kind of tight. Thanks!!- Top

Re: '70 big block auto transmission modulator line
It's hard to say whether the installation can be done with the engine and tranny in place. That's what happened to our old line and it was bent nearly beyond recognition, and attached at points where it was not supposed to be attached. I'd say you will definitely have to do some bending to get it in place. Whether you want to do that, or can successfully do it without messing up that line too much, is your call. I'm thinking that with a lot of patience and time, combined with some bending that can hopefully be straightened out once the line is in place, it can be done. We are lucky in that we are doing a "body-off", plus we were able to get a hold of a new line, so the installation will be easy for us. Randy C.- Top
