1960 Front Crossmember
I'm rebuilding the front suspension on my 1960 and have a question about a bracket that is welded on the top of the front crossmember, shown in the photos attached. I have reviewed past posts, looked at a number of front-end chassis photos and rebuild articles as well as the assembly and service manuals, but I haven't seen a similar bracket. It's 3 3/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches tall and has two threaded studs welded to it, facing forward. Does anyone have an idea as to what the bracket was for, maybe for an oil cooler? Nothing was mounted to it, I have owned the car since the late seventies. Should I simply cut it off and grind the area smooth?Thanks for any input you may have.Steve S.

If you can figure out what the hole in your rad support is for, then you will probably figure out what this bracket is for...............
My 60 has no such bracket.

Strange - must have been to attach some after-market radiator. You should cut it off and make the area smooth provided that it is a Corvette crossmember and not a passenger crossmember.Keith MacRae
