    Heater hose bracket finish

What is the correct finish on the two brackets that hold the heater hoses together on an early '65? The Judging Guide states that "a flat metal dark green or black phosphate plated clip ... secures both hoses together [that is] located to the rear of the expansion tank." The JG mentions the other hose bracket
attached to the alternator bracket that is bolted to the exhaust manifold, but does not clarify the finish. The Archives here state that the latter hose bracket is semigloss black and perhaps dip-painted. Do both of these hose brackets have the same finish? If so, how to reconcile the JG referencing green or black phosphate with the Archives here referencing semi-gloss dip-painted black?

    Mike,
The bracket attached to the alternator mount is typically painted/dipped low/semi-gloss black, where the band clamp is plated in dark/black phosphate and may appear dark green-ish.
    Hope this helps.

      Re: Heater hose bracket finish

Thanks very much for responding, Marco. It's kind of surprising the these two hose brackets (or clips) have different finishes. Maybe that will be addressed in the forthcoming new '65 JG?

Switching subjects somewhat, while researching the hose bracket finish question in the Archives here, I saw a reference to the heater box copper tube nipples (protruding through the firewall and to which the two rubber hoses attach using Corbin clamps) as perhaps being covered with silver paint. But I don't see anything about silver paint on those copper tubes in the Judging Guide. Any additional views on that subject?

By the way, looking forward to your seminar in Punta Gorda on Oct. 4

        Mike,
I think you will find the heater core is a copper or brass alloy so the coloring can vary from copper to brass. But the coloration can darken a lot due to environment. The #2 response is dead on. In fact the over the counter clip type strap replacements (NOS) were green phosphate as in later usage.
