    Re: Interior Paint

    Kieth,
I'm not familiar with your interior as my cars are C2, but I have used clear coat on other parts including aluminum that had a good prep. I would only use a 2 part clear if others agree that you should coat the trim.
The prep is important and a good 2 part clear will stay on. I coated Motorcycle side plates and valve covers with the clear and they were not effected by heat. I also use it over old finishes on cars or whatever after a careful prep and they look like new. There are also additives you can add to change the gloss if needed.

      Hi Keith,
While the plastic parts were certainly painted the car's interior color, I don't think any clear was originally used on those parts.

        Alan and Domenic,
Thanks for the reply. What i am trying to accomplish is long term protection from scratches and wear.

          Hi Keith,
I'd think the clear would give some protection but I'd apply it sparingly.
The painted pieces seem to have a look that indicates a very thin coating.
The trim piece on my 71 that showed some wear through the paint was the e-brake console . The motion of the female end of the seat belt's protective cover wore an arc in the sides of the console.
          Regards,
          Alan

Where did you get your carpet? I ordered from Remeo Engineering and it has been 12 weeks, still no carpet.
Starting to get a bit anxious.

Thank you very much for all your input. I don't know what to do about the carpet, he was recommended by one of the team leaders as the best if you could wait.

                    Re: Interior Paint

Dupont, (GM's supplier), painted interior parts had different sheen levels that were added to the elastomeric paint. I would assume for protection. You could clear your parts, but the sheen needed to protect as you want, may not be the look you want to see. Your call. Form over function. google auto color library. They have the interior color charts, as well as what sheen went where.

                      Kieth,
If I understand Dennis correctly, the sheen can be controlled as I mentioned in my post. I use Valspar Affect Agent to reduce the gloss. They do not have a ratio for the reduction of gloss so you have to do a trial or so. The cost is about $50 a qt.

                        Hi Keith,
I had read good things about the Romeo carpet too.
I was unhappy with the dimmer pad and heel pad reproduction and with the carpet itself.
The carpet while having the 'loops' was also 'fuzzy' as though a cat had worked on it with it's claws.
Hopefully yours will be good when you get it.
I'd be interested in hearing what you think.
                        Regards,
                        Alan

I believe the reproduction IMCO 'football' on the heel pad is quite large compared to the originals too.
It's a shame the way most reproduction parts fall short of the original part in some way.
