'67 Power windows work with the key off

I am chasing a battery drain and this may be related or another problem.

The power windows work with the ignition off and key removed. What could cause this??

Where would I start checking? Could it be the ignition switch or power window circuit?

I'm not sure about '67 but I think earlier mid-year power windows worked with the key off (any time). Don H.

        Larry,
It took a few children to die due to working the windows with the key off and getting strangled for the manufacturers to finally put the windows on the key circuit. Kids would put heads out the window and the live switch would strangle them.
Sorry about the gore but that's what it took.

Hi Dom, So the '67 windows worked without the key or did they change in '67?

For 1967 your power windows should only work with the key in the ON, or Accessory position.

Ok John, Seem to have conflicting opinions on whether they should work with the key off and out. What could the issue be then causing them to stay on?

Is your wiring harness connector for the power windows plugged into the correct position on the fuse panel. It should be plugged into the receptacle marked - ACC. FUSED. This is shown in the AIM in section A31 page A1.
