IIRC the heat riser valve is just the standard 2" valve used on all small block Corvette's from 68-74.

I believe most people go with either Gardner or Allen exhausts, but you will need to get the mufflers welded to the exhaust pipes on your own.

The original heat riser was a GM #3887024. That was discontinued many years ago and replaced by GM #362652 which is now also discontinued without supercession.

The 3887024 would be the most correct but it might be difficult or expensive to find. Also, be aware that many of the valves on the market which claim to be "NOS" are actually aftermarket valves which REPLACE the 3887024.

Most of the valves on the market are reasonably similar to the original valve, though.

IMHO the Gardner system is still not correct and very very expensive. There are previous threads discussing exhaust systems. The Corvette Central system fits great and costs a LOT less. They also offer free shipping on occasion.

Gardner's material and bends may be more accurate but the system is not welded. Corvette Central's system is aluminized and while bends and and material are not correct the system is welded.

If Garner's system was welded correctly I might have spent the extra but at this point neither one is TFP.

You can order a carbon steel system from Corvette Central. Takes a couple weeks longer. I have purchased several complete systems from Corvette Central and they fit great.

why not go to a local muffler shop and have them copy the original?

Not much point in this (no pun intended), as the difference in point deductions between a CC carbon steel system and an aluminized system is only 1-2 points, and the carbon steel will rust. I've installed the CC systems on several cars with good results.

I doubt that any muffler shop on earth could copy from scratch any Corvette exhaust system.
