the idler arm on my 63 coupe has a bit of play so I'm getting ready to tackle the job of fitting a (NAPA) replacement. Is there an easy vs a hard way to do it? There's, of course, no rust worries given the oil/grease on the front end just the tight fit. Will I need heat, a pikle fork or any special tool to separate the arm from the steering joint?

Re: idler arm on 63
No heat needed. A big hammer, and a pickle fork will work just fine. If you don't have a pickle fork, then you can beat the bottom of the bolt or even the side of the housing, but a pickle fork works better. You can also use a puller, but I think that is overkill.- Top
