What to use on convertible top?

My mother and father just purchased a beautiful 1974 Corvette convertible. It has the original top. What is the best product to use to wash it and protect it? Thanks, Don.

If it's a white top, we used to use Bon Ami and a soft brush with liberal water application...worked terrific. Meguir's makes a very nice vinyl protectant to apply once it's clean.
