Well, just saying, $45 a year might not seem like much to MOST of you, when I first joined the NCRS, I didn't have a whole lot of extra spending money, but again the Restorer was what I eagerly anticipated 4 times a year. I wasn't in the position to go to any of the conventions. What 'leisure' money I had, I used for buying N.O.S. parts as the prices were going out of sight! Sure now I have my own business and life is great, $45 not a big deal! HOWEVER if you want new younger blood beware of pricing yourselves out of existence!!! I'm sure there are plenty of younger people that are in what were my shoes. And in reference to one comment...maybe you can charge by the # of vettes one owns!! (kidding) what's wrong with an incremental price increase...that went up a bigger % then my property taxes!

Let's face it; there's always going to be a natural adverse reaction to any price increase. But, if we all settle down and think about it, many, if not most of us, have some really old cars. And, think about this... when you look around, there are fewer and fewer mechanics who are really able to really work on BC (before computer) cars. Do you really think it's not worth a couple of extra bucks to be able to make contact with such an extensive knowledge base? I know that I've belonged to Corvette clubs and participated in forums and whatnot over a lot of years. I've only belonged to this group for less than a year and I know that I have gotten more benefit out of this group; even with the occasional "smart alec" answer, than any other group. Even if some of us don't make full use of some of the publications, there's still a lot of information in them. I still think it's a cheap source of knowledge; and well worth the price.

I think we should have a "Tease Me" rate for new members....... kinda like new business in certain towns/states who get big tax incentives for coming to the "community". Let 'em join for 10 bucks the first year to get 'em in the door. Most will stay and pay the new rate from then on.

10 bucks more for my membership is not a killer, and yes I was surprised when I got my email that said my membership is in danger of default. BTW, maybe it'd be a little more pleasant if the email Subject "WARNING" notice said something like. "Hi Rich, here's your new membership bill. Thanks for staying and please pay it on time so there's no lapse in your membership". Instead, I got this nasty-gram email that sounded like a bad boy letter from a lawyer that I was being subpoenaed for a felony.

Anyways, just like everything else these days it still hurts when we add a $10 membership increase to all of the other rate increases we get. This past year I've had around a 15% increase in ALL of my utilities, health, auto, & home insurances, living expenses, etc. It stinks when I get yet another letter that says.......

"Thank you so much for being a Company XYZ customer. We appreciate your business but due to our increased costs, we regret we have to "screw you a little more" this year.

If you are not saying the extra $$$$ are not warranted. I will. Raising the fees over 25% and proudly stating how the membership has increased does not jive with me.

True membership driven organizations not only report the total membership but how many were lost and the net membership. What we get is the number of numbers issued...16k!

I believe 16K IS the "net" current membership number; the number of memberships issued since 1974 is a little over 60K.

Thanks Guys.....Ya, I think I made the point somewhat politically correct. I'm an early riser and sometimes my composition mentality before my usual java dosage is a bit "on the edge". Many times I start off pretty weird, but then after a few more sips I delete the "thinkin' out loud" stuff and tone it down a little.

I was THIS close to letting my membership run out! I sincerely hope it stays $45 for a long time, because if it goes to $50 next year that'll be it for me. Not EVERY member owns a 6 figure Corvette! But I still wish the Restorer would concentrate on restoration stories. I think show coverage should move to the Driveline. C'mon it's called the RESTORER!!! Just one members opinion. I'm sure I'll get roundly slammed for it. Bring it on...I can take it!
