Front to rear brake line replacement?

I have been away for awhile but I am getting back on my 64. I just finished phase one of rebuilding the brakes which included wheel cylinders, hoses, etc. Phase two will be replacing the steel brake lines. The car is a mutt so I am not worried about 100% originality but if I can keep it original as possible I will. The problem is the long line down the driver side of the frame. I have searched and found some saying the line can be replaced and some saying you must cut it to install. Does anyone have any first had experience installing that long line with the body on? If so, can you give me some tips on the installation. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Not a C2 guy but my brother in law is at the tail end of the frame off on his '64. I had the opportunity to loom at the car in all stages of completion. The brake line is on top of the rail, I doubt that it can be removed without lifting the body. My C3 has it's line on the side of the rail and that was a bear of a job changing that brake line. Good luck!!

      Dennis,

Yes, you can change the front to rear brake line without pulling the body. You will have to straighten the line where it goes up at the rear. There is enough room above the frame to pop the line from it's clips, slide the brake line thru and then rebend it at the rear. Would recommend an Air Conditioned area this time of year!!!! A pain but it can be done.

      Good luck,

      JR

A few years back, I replaced one on a 66 Coupe. I tried getting it in without cutting the line, with very little success. Once I cut the line, it became a no brainer. Everything went together perfectly. It was only a driver, so it worked out kool.
