    84 Corvette Dash Question

My 84 Corvette has the Bose radio system. The front speakers are located in the doors and the upper dash pad has grill openings for speakers. My question is.......Is the upper dash pad the same on Corvettes with the Bose system and without the Bose system? Just trying to find out if my car has the correct upper dash pad. Thanks for reading.

The 1984 upper dash pad was the same regardless of radio option. It was GM #14046647 but was discontinued in March, 1997. The installed radio GRILLES were different depending on radio option. The ones for your Bose application were GM #14081837, left, and 14081838, right. These grilles will deteriorate from sunlight and heat and may become "as brittle as an eggshell". They're now discontinued, too, and I don't know if reproductions are available.

        Re: 84 Corvette Dash Question

Thanks, I appreciate the replies. My front speakers are located in the lower part of the doors. My dash pad has holes for the speakers, but no grills seem necessary. Maybe the speakers were in the doors for the Bose system because of the large speaker chambers and in the dash for the regular stereo radios.
