Choke cover finish

What was the original finish plating on the choke spring cover (1972 small block)? Looking at pictures online in various Corvette supply catalogs and at ostensibly NOS ones on fleabay, they appear to have a bright silver reflective surface but were they originally zinc plated or flash chromed kind of like ignition shielding pieces?

Zinc plated. I never saw on "in-the-flesh" that even resembled any sort of chrome finish.
