Is there any tolerance for the add full marks
on the dipstick as given in the JM?

I have no idea what is written in the JM but here is what I have.

The 1968 AIM lists GM # 3925520 as the part number for the BB dipstick. My 1968 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1967) does not have a listing for the 1968 Corvette (427) dipstick but the 67 Corvette (427) dipstick, GM # 3860316, is described as follows:
A = 17 13/32"
B = 18 1/8"

In the 1967 AIM GM # 3860316 was replaced with GM # 3925520 on 3-3-67 as per the revision records (UPC L36, sheet A6) but who knows when the change took place on the assembly line.

My 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1968) lists the 3925520 dipstick for 67-69 Corvettes (427) and is described as follows:
A = 17 13/32"
B = 18 1/2"

The 1969 AIM lists GM # 3959158 as the dipstick for the 427 (UPC L36, sheet A5). According to the revision record GM # 3959158 replaced GM # 3925520 on 7-22-68. It's possible that "early" 1969's with the 427 were issued the 3925520 dipstick until the supply was used up.
GM # 3959158 is listed in my 1969 Corvette Parts Catalog (Oct. 1969) for only the 69 Corvette (427) and is described as follows:
A = 17 13/32"
B = 19"
