    C2 tire quality

Looking for tire size, 205 75 15. Are American classic radials,Coker Classic radials,Diamond Back classic radials,BFGoodrich radials really good quality tires? I was also checking out the Kumho Solus KR 21 tire. Can someone give me some direction as to which tires would be good choices? Not much out there in my size. Dutch

What sidewall, Harry? Whitewall, red line, gold line? Michelin dealers carry a very nice 205/75R15 whitewall. IMHO Diamond Back Classic has the best red line and gold line radials (Michelin design).

I am more concern with tires that give me the best ride and handling. Which Michelin tire are you referring too? Thanks, Dutch

If you look for a 205 70 15 or a 215 70 15 there is a lot more to choose from. Why do you want a 75 series tire? It's a lot narrower thread width. If you want bigger diameter look to 225 70 15.

I just swapped out my 13 year 225-70 x15's Radial T/A's only because of age- although they looked and rode fine. I kept the same size and brand and like them. My car is strictly a non show driver and those tires look and handle great for my style of driving.

There are no 205/75R-15s better than T-rated and none have the critical to safety spiral wound nylon cap belt. I would not put such poor quality tires on any car I own.

I believe you might be able to find a few H-rated 215/70R-15s, and they should have the nylon cap belt, which will keep the tire from disintegrating if an internal defect causes a tread separation. Without this belt the tire can disintegrate suddenly without warning from an internal defect, take the fender with it and maybe your life!!!

Tire Rack has the Michelin Defender in 215/70R15 blackwall for $448 for set of four. I've always run Michelins on all of my vehicles. IMHO best ride quality and longest tire life.

Do I run the risk of any tire rubbing, with a 215 70 15? Could you tell me the difference in the size?

If your ride height is correct, Harry, you will not experience any issue with the 215/70R15 tires. The aspect ration of the two are very close.

GOODYEAR from WalMart oddly enough 205 75 r 15 tire dry rot before they need replacement. I like the GY because they have a soft ride. the Michelins were too hard and just did not like them BW were $60 - $ 70 each

All I can ever find is S and T rated tires currently in 215 or (for a 72) 225, at least for a name brand tire.
Belle Tire, for example, shows H rated 215s in the "Headway" or "Zeetex" brand.
Extensive searching shows the brands Federal, Marauder and Milestar brands, but each describes the tires as a truck or SUV tire.

I would not put such poor quality tires on any car I own.
That may be, but what choice is there? And, once the Pirelli tires on your 63 age out what happens then?
Are Chinese origin H-rated tires better than domestic made T rated tires?

Or are we all going to be driving reproduction bias ply tires because that's all that will fit?

Just asking in a mostly rhetorical manner, but it's a question that we will all have to answer.

I have always had bad luck with Goodyear Tires. One set for my wife's Supra were more square than Round! Always Michelin tires on my C2 Corvette. 205 R70 15's fit and anything larger always hit the frame on the front.
The poster asked for information on C2 Corvettes and some of the posters are C3 guys! They ain't the same when it comes to tires!
