    1954 Motor Mounts on Frame

Someone in the past removed the motor mounts attached to the chassis leaving only the rivet holes in the chassis. The top mounts were originally riveted to the Frame and then welded.
I have replacement brackets but have questions about the rivets.
Are these rivets part of the structural integrity of the mount or can they be left off? I have noticed on future C1 cars that these rivets are not present.
If necessary how on earth can I get tools into the frame to work on that part of the rivet?
Even if replaced with bolts, how can I get to the bolt from inside the fame without cutting access holes in the frame?

Has anybody replaced these brackets and what woudl you recommend?

If the original brackets were both riveted AND welded and you want to keep the "look", I'd weld them in place (stronger than rivets) and then epoxy the rivets in the holes for the "look" If the mounts on later C1's are the same......
