    Speedometer cable leak

My 69 Muncie has a small leak at the speedometer cable fitting . Does the whole cable need replacement, or is there a seal in the fitting that can be replaced? Thanks

There is an o-ring around the unit that fits through the trans case and I believe there is also a seal in the same unit that seals around the driven gear.

There is an inner lip seal. RockAuto.com has them. It is ATP (brand) part#SO13 .
Their .62 cents a piece but you have to buy 5. CC also sells the whole assy. for about $15 (photo)

The o-ring seal on the outer diameter of the fitting was GM #1361618 but it's discontinued. Easily available in the aftermarket, though.

The fitting also has an inner seal which is a very small steel-framed lip seal. It's GM #3869910 and remains available. Some GM parts info describes this as a "bracket". It's not, though; that's an error.

The complete fitting is GM #345215.
