Re: 1963 Split Window Barn Find

It is nice to see original unrestored barn find cars .......but. I don't want to own one. I prefer to have a nice looking car that drives anywhere and is safe. The rusty, mouse dropping, rat piss and smelly barn finds is something I'll let other people own, not my cup of tea. Replacing brake lines, fuel line, rotted out critter filled exhaust and anything else to make road worthy underneath a crusty old chassis is no picnic. No interest being underneath that. Doing a full restoration on a car as such I'd just pull the body. I prefer the well used and odorless Corvette that was in an acceptable environment that is absent of interior rust and critter droppings. But a well cared for original car is a total different story.

very nice............need more pictures, love to see something like this in a barn find. I can say I have driven one from time to time, 327/350hp 4-speed, enjoy and take your time getting her road ready. I hope you saved enough coin to get her looking pretty again!

              best of luck
              John

Robert,Welcome to NCRS. I have been a member for many years and found that this group of people will help you in anyway they can. I have posted simple and complex questions and have always received a courteous and correct response. I have a 63 fuelie, but a roadster. Mine is Daytona blue with a white top and dark blue interior. I am in the process of restoring the car. It is an original car with 39,000 miles. I think what Floyd said is 100% accurate. The judges will see things that you might never see. Take your judging sheets and start on your project. The advice they will give you will be impartial and very helpful. I have been around 63's for a while as many others on this post have been. Do not be afraid to ask for help, even with the simplest of questions!Jerry

Even though the weather at Carlisle was sub-par and the overall vendor turnout was disappointing, I was able to score some hard to find parts. Any other 63 owners have any luck?

                      Robert,

I managed to find a 1963 tach cable in very nice condition the needs the inner cable as it was just the outer casing. Seems they are getting hard to find, I have been looking for some time now.
