    C2 Horns

Is there any way to disassemble and repair an original 67 horn. It made a sickly squak and now no sound. The electrical resistance is extremely high so there is probably a discontinuity in the coil. The replacements are apparently plastic which would be a big difference in appearance. Do other GM cars of the era have the same horn?

LIC sells a rebuild kit that had every thing you need. All you do is drill out all the rivets. The horn comes in half. You replace the diaphragm inside and then reassemble. The trick is duplicate the rivet marks

It's a lot simpler to send it to Gary at the Horn Works (www.classiccarhorns.com) or to Joe Perri in Chicago - either way, it'll come back working, correct, and ready to bolt on. The "DIY-at-home" horn rebuild kits are notoriously unsuccessful.

I have used both of these guys with great success. I agree with John on this work.

I rebuilt a set of 66 horns with the DIY kit almost thirty years ago. They still work fine today.

              I agree.
I duplicated the waffle rivets as well.
The key, I believe, is to make sure that the two halves are dead flat, otherwise the diaphragm will deform and not vibrate.
