    What is this part called?

    Hello together

This is on my 1970 Corvette.

I am trying to figure out, what this part is? There are two on each door jamb. On one side of my car they are missing.

Could you please identify these rubber parts? I need to order new ones, do major Corvette parts suppliers carry them? I just can't find them because I do not know what they are called.

    Thank you very much.

    Rudy

    Hi Rudy,
The first item I don't recognize. It looks like an owner inspired placement of a foam strip perhaps to help with a water leak? It appears the strip was painted over when the car was painted.
The second item is actually fiberglass. It's a water diverter. It's shown in the 71 AIM in UPC 1 Bolt/Weld, Sheet B9, as Item #13, called simply 'Strip'.
They are available in reproduction, but at $62 a pair (I believe) you might consider repairing yours with a little resin and chopped up mat.
    Regards,
    Alan

      Hello Alan

Thank you for your answer. I found it in the AIM and yes it seems that a part of the fiberglass has broken off. But as I do not have any problems with water leaks, I will leave it like that. And I will remove those silly looking rubber felts. This explains why on the other side of the car there are none of them, but the water diverter is still there, too.

I found some parts of the original Donnybrooke green underneath those rubbers. I will overpaint them with my current dark blue color. Maybe sometime this car will be returned back to green.

      Regards and thank you

      Rudy
