1970 convertible rear quarter panel trim

    hi,
i decided to take a look at the rear quarter panels to see how they are attached to the body.

as per aim sheet upc1 f16, the rear quarter panel trim is fixed to the body rear door opening by a visible long and a short metal body color retainers.
there is also a l-shaped metal support riveted to the interior bottom of the door opening and another flat vertical support bracket near the should harness retractor reinforcements.

    l-shaped bracket

i'm missing the flat support brackets near the retractor reinforcement and one driver side l-shaped bracket.

i checked with several vendors but none have these for sale in their catalogues.

could someone give me the measurements of the flat support near the shoulder retractor reinforcement--lenght, width, etc.-- so i can make them myself.

    thanks for reading

    Hi Wolf,
Here's the 'S' shaped bracket from my 71 coupe. I don't know if it's the same on convertible cars? Maybe?
It's 1" wide and 4 1/4" long. The top tab is 3/4", the center of the S is 1 1/2", and the bottom tab is 2".
The offset between the upper tab and lower tab is about 1/2".
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Alan

      hi alan,
thank you very much for the dimensions. i've already made a template.
      how thick is the bracket?
i suppose the bracket is the same for the coupes and convertibles.
      regards,

        Hi Wolf,
I'm going to say the upper bracket material is the same thickness as the lower bracket in your picture.
