Parts for those who drive their cars

I drive my car quite a bit during the summer, so I perform regular maintenance on it. I got an email from Rock Auto this morning with a bunch of closeout parts. I was kind of surprised to see a bunch of parts that fit my '67 at what I consider excellent prices. For example, they have Purolator oil filter cartridges for $1.11 each. I checked on several foums I frequent, and the general consensus seems to be that they make an excellent filter, so I ordered 5. After some negative experience qith reproduction fan belts, I was looking for some decent replacements. I ordered a Goodyear power steering belt and an alternator belt for $3.26 each. I ordered a bunch of other small parts, most of them for my old Ford, all name brands and quite cheap. I know there will be some shipping, but I selected the cheapest way, since most of these are going to be for future use.

May not be for show cars and trailer queens but good deals for us driver types. Just a heads up.

I agree Dennis, I've purchased a lot of my parts from RockAuto. Probably the best score so far was a LT1 Cam and lifters on closeout. The cam box looked pretty old but for $69 for the cam + 33 for set of lifters seem like a decent deal.

Don't rule out NAPA as a source of parts for cars which actually get driven.

For example, need a set of points for your 1937 Cord 812? Ask for Echlin CS709.

Oh, you have a 1937 Graham? You need Echlin CS765.

I agree that you can get a surprising number of parts for older cars from NAPA (I know I do), but the attraction with Rock Auto is the price.
