Just want to pass this along to everyone who may use this insurance company. I have been with American Collectors Insurance as a customer for 38 years, had 15 Corvette's insured by them. I had a front engine harness fire two weeks ago, because of a battery short out, they sent TWO adjusters to look at the damage, both saw the wires burnt. I waited one week to hear back from them never received a call so I called them only to find out I was NOT covered because it was a electrical fire (NO FLAMES). This company are crooks, I paid them on time for 38 years, never put in a claim. Please anyone who has this company please beware!!!! I know that they have a ad in our NCRS Driveline just be careful. PS my car is fixed and just as good as new again, out of my pocket.

Re: BEWARE of this insurance company
Sorry, I have to agree with your insurance company and believe any other insurer would have come to the same conclusion. You did not have a fire, simply an electrical malfunction which is typically not covered by insurance.- Top

While agreeing to the above statements, there is a fine insurance thread in the archives listed below. It is a must read for everyone.

Re: BEWARE of this insurance company
I Remember when ACI added this exclusion to their policy many years ago. The way I read it, I thought that if my car burned to the ground due to an electrical fire, I was not covered, so I called them. They explained that the car was covered for a fire even if it was due to an electrical short.- Top

Re: BEWARE of this insurance company
Consider State Farm. Last year my horn relay on my 62 Corvette shorted out and melted most of my wiring harness. State Farm paid without any adjuster coming out to see the car after I sent them pictures of the wires. They were only sorry that they couldn't pay me for trailering my 62 to Massachusetts where I wanted it to be fixed. This same super service has been my experience whenever I have a claim.- Top

Re: BEWARE of this insurance company
I almost switched from Hagerty to another well know insurer to save some money. Then a good friend had a garage fire and Hagerty was fantastic with his claim. I stayed with Hagerty. Don H.- Top

Re: BEWARE of this insurance company
I did not have a short/fire issue, but had a blowout that destroyed a good part of my rear quarter panel. With pictures alone, State Farm quickly paid the full amount of damages including repainting with modern lacquer, which was relatively expensive. No delay, no questions asked.- Top

Re: BEWARE of this insurance company
I have hagerty for my vettes and nostalgic race car. They rock there coverage is great and relatively inexpensive for NJ. I also have State Farm for my everyday drivers and house and nohing comes close to those guys if you have a claim they are on top of it. I would never change bcause of a few dollars in price there service is second to none. No run around ever there adjusters are very knowledgable and helpful- Top
