    C2 1965 + coil wire - small block

Ok, I am not gonna post how my new wire loom already smoked when I put my distributor ignition shielding cover on but can someone please post me a photo or 2 of the wire (black with pink stripe) as it leaves the loom and attaches to the + on my original 202 coil.

When I go to put my distributor cover on it will certainly make contact with this wire which is not correct. Does the wire go down from the loom and then back up or what the heck am I doing wrong? Does the wire loom go below the wiper motor as I have it straight across and tied to the hood release cable? I need an aspirin and a 6 pack!

    Thanks for any help. Jim

Jim, Darn......2nd time this week I hear someone had a shield cut their Ignition wire and got burned.

    I don't have a pic, but I have a question......

The Blk/Pnk that comes from the harness through the grommet near the wiper motor goes to the ballast resistor, right? Then a separate Blk/Pnk from the other side of the Ballast goes to the Coil+, right?

Unless somebody cut the one going to the coil, it should be long enough to loop under the shield away from harm.

p.s. I know it's too late, but you may want to add a fuse coming out of the ignition switch, but there are 2 Blk/Pnk wires there. There's another which goes to the fuse panel which is the fused circuit going to accessories.

with my reproduction harness there is no way that this wire will loop down under the shielding then back up. I t appears to short. Can someone tell me as this wire leaves the engine harness and goes to the + side of the coil how long it should be?

      Thanks.

        Jimmy,
You should have a good 12 inches of coil wire sticking outside the black vinyl wrapping of the main harness trunk. Now if the repro harness is too short you have found your problem. I suggest you measure it up against the original that was removed. My experience is the original harnesses are of enough length to route correctly so shield interference is not an issue.

Be sure that the coil is positioned corectly so it's not making contact with the shielding.
