    C2 A/C freon hose diameter.

I have been trying to determine the inside diameter of the high pressure hose the goes from the compressor muffler to the condenser. I've had suggestions that it's 1/2, 13/32 or 5/16 inches in diameter. That is too many choices.

anyone have documentation as to all the hose diameters for al the connections on a 63 with A/C?

Saginaw Steering Gear Division manufactured Air Conditioning Hose Assemblies for Chevrolet B-cars in the late 1960s. I would assume that hose sizes were pretty generic in the automotive industry. The discharge hose (from the muffler) was 13/32 inch I.D. The big suction hose was 5/8 inch I.D.

I was awarded my first U.S. Patent (#3,787,945) for a mechanical connection that assembled the aluminum discharge pipe to the aluminum block that bolts to the back of the compressor. The block had two aluminum pipes welded to it. The first pipe could be auto welded on a spinning fixture. With the first pipe in place, the second pipe required a skilled operator to hand weld it in place. Our engineering team, (Shea, Pacek, and Tobin) invented a swaged connection with a crush seal that completely eliminated that very expensive second hand welding operation.

Jim, just so I'm clear. The discharge side is the side from the compressor to the condenser, correct?

        thank you

Yes, it is hose connecting from the compressor to the condensor in front of the radiator.

LICS and Dr Rebuild both have them. With and without logos. Shops that specialize in AC/hydraulic lines should have them also. If you don't care about originality, they can probably install crimped end connections.
