    C2 air conditioning problem

    Hi folks,

I have a 1965 factory air roadster . Had the compressor replaced last year. This year had poor cooling,
a local general auto shop reportedly added 1 lb 134-was converted long ago.

Still poor cooling. I can see very tiny bubbles in sight glass. New problem is that the fan does not run at
high position, even though the fuse for high speed is intact. What would be a likely cause for no high speed
fan if the fuse for it is intact? Can the relay fail but allow the other speeds to work?

On R12 you usually use 3.5 pounds and no bubbles are visible. On 134 you use 3 pounds and you will see bubbles.

      John -

Yes, the high blower relay can fail and the other resistor-controlled speeds will work fine; the relay only operates to connect power directly from the horn relay (through the in-line fuse) to the heater blower with the switch in "high".

Trace out That Red Fused Feed Wire in the loom. Same problem my Relays CLICKS on HI only with no motor blowing at all....but Low and Med are Fine Hi Clicks and then No Blower... I put a 12 separate Battery DIRECTELY to the Red Wire after separating from Fuse connection to Wire to the Relay... and the neg from the Separate batt..to black Motor Ground with aligator clips as a TEST to see if Motor or relay were at fault They were fine and HI SPEED works.. Just find where youre not getting 12V along the route from the Horn Relay. If your Horn works there's 12 V at the Horn Relay and like me you need to find where the splice has gone bad in the Harness at the Firewall en route to Red Fused Blower Hi Speed Power source...
