Re: KO wheel question on CF
So 8in knockoffs are originals. Here I have been wrong all this time. And it must be true because some guy at a Corvette shop said soI can't wait for the pictures of these super rare wheels. It is always great to learn about these rare original parts from a guy that knows it all

I don't know much about KO's and learned much in that thread, but the best part of it was the close-up those original KO's that were mounted poolside.- Top

Re: KO wheel question on CF
About the time that Western Wheel, which I think at that time was owned by Kelsey-Hayes, started manufacturing the 6" KOs in the mid/late seventies, they also introduced the 8" version, which were designed for C3s or C2s with flairs, which was a common modification back then.
The are easy to ID from the flange that extends beyond the fins, and they used the same adapter, nut, and center cap as the 6" version. I recall they were fairly slow sellers and weren't in production for too many years, so they are rare, but not original to any Corvette.

Re: KO wheel question on CF
They look like 1982 "Collector's Edition" wheels to me. One year only and 15x8. 6,759 Collector's Editions were produced in 1982 and here's the rim to compare with his. Someone's replaced the center cap on his with the C2 KO assembly, but the wheel appears to be the same.

Re: KO wheel question on CF
... similar appearance, but not the same. The '82 Collectors Edition wheels had a conventional five-lug hub. They are most similar in design concept to the '67 "bolt-on" aluminum wheels that looked very similar to the earlier KO's.
BTW, does anyone know who manufactured the '82 Collector's Edition wheels?

I would LOVE to see what's under his caps.
And I believe the 82 wheels were also manufactured by KH.
