Hello all, I am trying to determine if my master cylinder is original. The car was built on SEPT.21,1968. This is a non P/B application and the part number is 5455509 with casting no. 208. I woukd appreciate any input. I think it is a service part. Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: Re :E1969 Master Cylinder
I just located my 3RD edition of Judging Guide. On page 57 ,the answer was clearly spelled out. Part no. 5455509 is correct for standard brake application. My only unanswered question is casting plate 208 means.- Top

Re: Re :E1969 Master Cylinder
If the "208" you are referring to is cast-in, I believe this is a number which MAY represent the sequential day of the year in which the casting was manufactured. Reference to the year is NOT included. However, this is just a guess; the number may have completely different meaning. As far as I know, it's not judged.
Most 1969 master cylinders do have a julian date which includes reference to year STAMPED into the front brake line bossIn Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
