      Re: 1962 generator mounting bracket

      I have 3 similar generator braces (not brackets) in my collection. I can only identify the top brace (stamped "3760364" used on 58-62 Chev. V8's according to vintage Chev. parts catalogs in Gr. 2.317) that was removed from a 1959 Chev. 283 (block stamped "T519C" or May 19th with cyl. heads casting dates "E1859" or May 18, 1959).

      I have yet to identify the bottom two braces.

      The middle brace measures 14 11/16" diagonally in overall length with a 3 9/16" overall long slot (3 3/16" net slot length. The brace has a slight offset of about 3/8".

      The lower brace measures 15 3/8" diagonally in overall length with a 3 11/16" overall long slot (3 5/16" net slot length). This brace has an offset measuring about 1 1/4".

      According to my 1963 Chev. Parts Catalog (Oct. 1962) the brace listed for 60-62 Corvettes is GM # 3779210 and is described as the following:
      Length: 12 3/4"
      Slot: 2 13/16"
      Offset: 1 13/16"
      Bend: curved

      I believe that the slot length is measured from center of half circle to center of half circle.

      There are shop drawings of the 3755556, 3770360, and 3779210 braces in Noland Adam's 53-62 Corvette restoration book on page 247.
      L = 12.68"
      Slot = 2.80" (c/c)
      Slot width = 0.42" for 3779210 and 3770360 braces.

          Dino...If i remember correctly, the offset bend in the brace allows for clearance around the front engine mount cross bracket..also a special standoff shoulder bolt is used as anchor point.

            Dino...One more point ...The pulley diameter on a 340hp Gen is larger to allow for overspeed hi-rpm revs.on solid lifter car ( 3-1/8 vs 2-7/8 ) not sure about sizes..also amp output is higher.
