    69 L36 Carburetor Gasket Appearance

Are there any details I should look for when purchasing a new gasket that goes between the carburetor base plate and intake manifold? For example, tabs, part number stamps, material, color, texture, etc.

The car is an early production '69 L36. Attached is a picture from my favorite example car.

Floyd, I can tell you with pass experience with carburetor base gaskets, Its also important to have a correctly configured gasket also. There are so many different configurations to Quadrajets. and even some of the venders list ones they say is for your carburetor but is not like the one you may take off. If you want the right one go to Doc rebuild's catalog or website he has pictures that help with the application.

The original gasket was made from some sort of dark gray, "asbestos"-like material that had a steel core. It was about 1/8" thick. It had 4 holes sized for each carb barrel and had the "heat slot" in the front. I have some NOS gaskets [none for sale] but I can't picture them for you as I'm out-of-town. I believe the Dr. Rebuild gaskets are as authentic as any you will find.

        Floyd,
Attached is a photo of a couple of NOS Quadrajet gaskets. They are as Joe described. I have found them with and without the hole between the secondary holes. The photo with the package was from an ebay post (not mine). Don't forget the metal gasket. I have one NOS but it is still in the sealed package so no detail can be seen.

Thank you gentlemen. The one I ordered from Doc Rebuild arrived yesterday and it looks exactly like the one in Larry's ebay pic. The aim shows two parts between the carb and intake: the gasket (part #3884574) and baffle (part #3884576). I'm hoping to reuse the existing baffle - assuming it's still there.
