Rebuilding a '73 BB for fun not judging. Car has upgraded 454 engine, T400, AC, new after market 750c carb. and intake. Do I need to install the factory TCS system or can I just use the TCS temperature switch and transmission switch. Other TCS components missing in action. Just want a smooth running engine without spending money on original type parts that are not needed. Your comments appreciated. Lynn Schwebach 42902

Re: 73 TCS System
I'm not familiar with the exact set-up on a 73, but I wouldn't think you would need it. On my 70 all it does is block vacuum to the distributor in 1st & 2nd gear. If you're not using the TCS solenoid, it won't matter if you hook-up the temp switch or transmission switch. For a smooth running engine, you want manifold vacuum to the distributor all of the time. A simple vaccum line from the carb to the distributor should work fine.- Top

Re: 73 TCS System
Mike is right, none of the TCS system is required for proper function and maximum fun. Don't forget that the transmission kickdown function is handled by the switch under the gas pedal. Many are out of adjustment- Top

If you want to the trans. kickdown and funky cowl induction flapper to work, yes.- Top
