John, My 1953 to 1967 spec guide shows exterior as....

    Silver Blue
    DuPont 2696-L
    R-M 58V25/A992D
    Ditzler DDL11755

However, there is also a Blue-Gray code shown and on page 130 of the Spec Guide, shown for the Interior Trim pieces. In particular, Instrument panel and cluster, steering wheel and hub, directional signal housing, heater cover panel, radio grille screen, defroster escutcheons, and cockpit housing divider(which I believe is radio/clock/heater console).

On page 131 for 1958 Colors and Fabrics, it explains the following also as Blue-Gray footnoted metalic "paint": Sidewall Upper Panel and Scuff Pad(I think this is the door panel top/bottom horizontal areas) and Kick Panels(fiberglass parts). It also specifies Blue-Gray for the Top Storage Well, and Blue Gray for the Trunk Trim Board(Division Panel).

I suspect the trunk was painted Silver Blue as it was going through the Paint Line, but I am unsure about this. It is not mentioned in the trim data above as being Blue Gray, so I'm pretty sure it should be Silver Blue, unbuffed. However it seems strange that the Top Well would be Blue Gray later after exterior Silver Blue was applied. I am unsure.

The Blue-Gray codes are as follows:
    DuPont 2696-L
    R-M 58V25/A992D
    Ditzler DDL11755

Which BTW, as I just realized, are the EXACT same codes for Silver Blue

Maybe they added a flattening agent to it for interior pieces. I'm speculating here, maybe that's why it would have a different name.

p.s. Hmmm, I learned something today just by reading my book!

As best I can tell, when the interior color was different than the exterior, they layed the pieces in the floor and painting them right on the paint line. For that reason, I think they were painted in unbuffed exterior color.

Thank You. This helped clear it up. I should have joined this organisation long ago. John G

            Wayne -

I have the plant's Paint Shop process notes from the C1 era, and that's exactly how the interior parts were handled, and that process continued into the midyear era.

Yea, I see the paint shadow of all those things laying in the floor.
