Would an early '58 (1339) 250HP fuelie, have a generator with the 1/4" gap between the pulley and the fan blades. The generator I have on the car now is not the correct 1102043, but it works without the gap. If I get a "correct" pulley the 1/4" will move the belt to far forward? I don't think the '57 had the 1/4" gap in the pulley, why would an early '58 have one? Didn't they just move the generator from the right to the left, but use the same 1102043?

Re: '58 250 HP generator - 1/4" gap in pulley?
Marvin, if your 58 has right hand side hood support, the generator is set back farther to prevent interference with it. It has it's 'U' shaped mount bolted directly to the exhaust manifold, no spacer plate. It will require the 1/4 inch offset pulley to move the fan belt forward so it misses the lower radiator hose. 57s mounted on the left engine manifold and aligned ok with the pulleys without the gap etc.
