    early 59 door weather striping

I'm in the process of installing my door post and weatherstripping on my early 59. When I took it apart, the door posts were from a 58 and there are no holes in the door for the plastics clips. The door opener is in the correct place for a 59. I purchased a set of 59 door posts a while ago and want to install it with the 59 weather striping. Now that the car is painted and mostly assembled, its impossible to drill holes on the hinge side of the door. Has anyone else encountered this on their early 59 and what did you finally do about the weatherstrip.

    Pat, You have several options...

1- Use a small profile right angle drill adapter to drill the holes. You may not reach the ones directly behind the hinge bars.

2- Don't drill the holes and just use weatherstrip adhesive on the hinge side.

3- Remove the doors...by leaving the hinges attached to the pillar and remove the doors from the hinge bars, drill the holes, install the w/s normally, reinstall and align the doors.

p.s. My choice would be #3
