What is your preferred name brand final cleaner? My visit to the car parts store was not successful in finding the product I had used in the past. I thought about buying a product for cleaning vinyl called TUFF STUFF.

Jim, if you are talking about vinyl and not cloth I have used a couple of the cleaners over the years maybe a half dozen times but since '64 have consistently used the car shampoo, Meguiar's in my case, that I wash the car with using a soft brush when I wash the car. It has always kept it looking new even when the threads deteriorate from age. I do not use a protectant. Years ago I asked a few restorers at Pebble and Amelia Island what they recommended and was advised the car shampoo worked well for vinyl or cloth so I have stuck with it. Steve -

Steven, I will try the car shampoo on my white vinyl convertible top. It will not affect the DuPont lacquer either. Thanks.Comment

Raggtopp makes a very good cleaner and conditioner for vinyl/convertible tops. Google Raggtopp and you will find suppliers.Comment
