    Pitman Arm Color

I have an early 63 fuelie and I'm having the steering box rebuilt. The box is going to be painted black. The question came up as to what color the pittman arm should be. Any thoughts?ThanksJerry

    Jerry -

On power steering cars, the pitman arm is unpainted (it was assembled to the steering linkage at St. Louis). On manual steering cars, the pitman arm is at least partially painted chassis black - the steering linkage was hung on the paint conveyor at Chevrolet-Buffalo by the pitman arm and steering idler. The pitman arm nut and lock washer are NOT painted.
