    crooked spare tire tub -68

Has anyone had the spare tire tube install off-center? When putting the spare tire tube back onto the frame, it appears the whole unit is biased to the drivers side so that the lock barely grabs in the metal slot. I do have the correct 68 style bolts - or pins that thread into the cross member. They are both threaded in fully. I did remove the "Y" bracket to restore and it is riveted back in place- I think it is back is place but could be a problem. I was thinking of backing the passenger side bolt out a bit to lower the one side of the tube and help get it centered in the lock.

    Thanks again for any help

Thanks Alan, good thoughts. The hanger bolts are both the same length and are the shorter 68 only size. It will be easy enough to back them out and check if they are bent. I will do that tonight. I'll post a pic before i start to show the situation as well.

I snugged the single bolt that has the lock to see if it pulled every thing into place once tight but no luck.
      Thanks.
