1964 Turbo Fire Valve Cover Label p/n 3832180???

I'm looking for a response from Joe Lucia to my question if the 1964 A.I.M. part number 3832180 for the Turbo Fire valve cover label on the 250 and 300 hp valve covers is the mylar label or still the metal de-bossed label? I have a mid-production 1964 300 hp equipped car but the current TGJM says all came with the metal de-bossed label which I don't think is correct.

    Thanks,

    James West

The GM #3832180 label was never a SERVICE-available part (at least through regular GMSPO parts channels). So, my information on it is limited. However, I can tell you that the 3832180 was used from 1963 through 1965. So, whatever it was, I expect it was the same for all of these years. My recollection is that these years did use the embossed metal/foil label.

From someone in the know.........................no me but sent to me.

For 62 through at least mid/late production 63 models, the "327" plate was embossed metal. It consisted of three parts. The metal plate, a sheet on the bottom and another sheet or mask on the top surface. The bottom sheet was removed and the plate was installed on the bare naked unpainted valve cover at the Flint engine plant. Once the engine went through the orange paint process, the top sheet, or mask, was peeled off. The engine was then shipped to the vehicle assembly plant. No part number for the plate assembly was ever shown in any publications that I have ever seen.

For mid/late 63 through 65, the procedure and part changed. The engine was shipped from the engine plant with no plate or sticker at all.

In production at the verious vehicle assembly plants, there was a new procedure. A mylar "327" sticker was to be applied.

This change/addition would be shown in the 63 assembly manual. A 3832180 sticker was added to the parts list at some point during 63 production.
