Hi were all 65 66 67 trailing arms drilled for the rear sway bar or were only big block car trailing arms drilled? Thanks in advance Brian

Pretty sure it was only the factory BB TA's. Service arms might be another story.

My 67 AIM shows drilling dimensions for the rear sway bar attachment to the trailing arms so I think it would be safe to assume that only BB received this additional installation step at the factory.

I saved this info from John Hinkley:

There was no such thing in the plant as a SB or BB trailing arm; they arrived from Chevrolet-Warren with no holes, and if they were to be installed on a BB car, the two holes for the rear bar bracket were drilled in an off-line bench drill fixture. That's why the hole dimensions are shown in the A.I.M. John Hinckley

Most of the original 70-72 LT-1s I have seen had the holes in the trailing arms even though they were not equipped with a rear stabilizer bar. Also, the service trailing arms I have seen had the holes. So, lots of other cars acquired then using service parts.

                All------

There were several sets of these trailing arms available in SERVICE over the years with kind of an interesting history.

For 1965 small blocks (i.e. without rear stabilizer) the trailing arm part numbers were GM #3864035 and 3864036. These arms did not have the holes.

For 1965 big blocks, the arms were GM #3874769 and 3874770. These arms had the stabilizer holes.

The 3874769 and 3874770 replaced the 3864035 and 3864036 for SERVICE in October and November, 1965, respectively.

The 3874769 and 3874770 continued to SERVICE all 1965-77 Corvettes until late 1976. At that time, the GM #3864035 and 3864036 arms came back and replaced the 3874769 and 3874770. So, from November, 1976 until at least early/mid 1979 the trailing arms available from GM to SERVICE all 1965-77 Corvettes apparently did not have the holes for the stabilizer bar.

In February, 1979 the GM #3864035 was replaced by GM #475103 and in July, 1979 the GM #3864036 was replaced by the GM #475104. The 475103 and 475104 were the trailing arms used for 1978-81 Corvettes. These arms have the parking brake cable bracket slightly repositioned to provide extra clearance for the wider tires used on some 1978-81 Corvettes. I do not know if they had the stabilizer bar holes, or not, but I expect that they did.

In September, 1982 the GM #475103 and 475104 were replaced by the GM #14035663 and 14035664. The latter were the same as the replaced arms except there were 4 small holes added around the perimeter of the large bearing support hole on the rear side of the arms. These holes were for the attachment of u-joint shields used only for the 1982 model year. By the way, these shields were an EXCELLENT addition and I wish GM had added them many years earlier.

Keep in mind that the above represents the arms available in SERVICE. The arms used in PRODUCTION for any given year may not have been the same, particularly for the 1966-77 period.
                In Appreciation of John Hinckley
