    1954 tranny burping

Do any of you still have the tranny puking a cup or so of fluid after start up. Are you living with it or do you have a solution. Mine burped even after two weeks not running. There are no vents on these units except for the tube whiched they fixed in 58. My builder says its the sealing rings at the input shaft and there really isnt anything wrong with the tranny. Converter fluid still slips past the seals. Any creative solutions? If it is run frequently it wont have time to build up

if we drive our 54 daily, it never pukes aft. if it sits 3 or more days, it pukes. my 57 FI power glide doesn't puke, even after sitting over the winter. the 54 PG was rebuilt 2 times by local auto tranny shop(best in area) . the 57 PG was rebuilt by same shop but i couldn't put up with it puking as it was destined for Duntov. i removed the 57 PG and took it to Fatsco tranny shop in no. nj. 2K later, it was installed and got Duntov. as i said, it never pukes and moves instantly after shifted into gear. don't know Fatsco's method to fix it but they were reluctant to discuss the remedy. mike

Thanks guys, Im glad to hear im not the only one. Chris, how long does your car sit at times and not started? This may seem silly but Im going to fit a plastic bottle with holes at the top with a rag or sponge and seal it to the tube temporarily which will provide a place for the fluid to go and drain back in untill I get a feel for how often this happens. I might need to remove a little more fluid as it didnt burp as much as it did the last time. I might just need to start it every week, but thats not practical in winter.
