Re: Restored starters
Roger,I have had John Pirkle restore both my alternator and starter on my 1970 - 350/350 and he did an outstanding job. The last time I called him, it took over a week before he responded. Don't give up. The wait is worth it. Duane Dunlap- Top

Hey Duane John does come highly recommended by forum members and when I spoke to him his stuff is NCRS right so I guess I will wait. Thanks- Top

Roger------
An 1100859 alternator is a whole lot more difficult to come by than a 1108338 starter. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I just don't know if I should keep calling John Pirkle who says he has me on his list but man it's been like 3 weeks now and I don't know if he even has what I need.- Top

Re: Restored starters
As others have said John has more work than he needs, but at the end of the day his work is excellent. If your going to Carlisle visit John there. If I have something to be restored I drop it there, when it's done it shows up via UPS or FedEx.

Re: Restored starters
Roger, it is up to you. I waited a few months and am glad I did. As Harry and others said he is busy and in demand because he is good just like his dad was. I doubt if you will find a better person to work with or higher quality. I haven't. We usually have to wait in line for the good guys. Steve- Top

Re: Restored starters
John Pirkle didn't have the starter I was looking for in stock (1107242). However he restored my alternator and voltage regulator and did a great job. I got my starter from Ron Burke @ Chevy Cool. He had the correctly stamped and dated starter. All I need now is the correct solenoid.
The bottom line is, you can't go wrong dealing with either gentleman.63 Coupe- Top

Re: Restored starters
I think the 1114304 would be closer to being correct, as my car was built 12/12/62.
BTW the latest Judging Guide (sixth edition) shows very early models as having "1119919". But I believe there was a typo and your "1119910" would be the correct number. I remember coming across previous posts by John DeGregory and others discussing this issue.
Any way, they sure seem hard to come by.63 Coupe- Top
