Found this while changing oil. It's a 1967 L71 with manual steering. Looking up from under car toward driver's side. As always, thanks for any assistance.

Re: Leak--what is it and what to do?
Ron,That is weepage at the adjusting nut, either from the input seal or through the threads. Was the box ever worked on? It is clean but that doesn't mean it was ever rebuilt. The box should have grease in it only. No oil and no oil/grease mixtures as I read on other forums. These are none vented boxed up against the exhaust. Oil will leak out of the freshest rebuilt or NOS box out there. I stopped using Mobil 1 grease in my rebuilds because the red oil separates quickly and that oil will work out of the box from the seals or threads- even with thread sealant in place. Look at the cover of the box at the lash screw and nut. If there are some threads showing AND the box is tight then you may get by with just a reseal and grease. But if the screw is deep and there is play you have more issues then just a leak. Good luck- Top
