    Re: Online Classified Ads

NCRS should make classified ads available for free for members and charge a very small fee for non-members. That way, the ads may work as a membership recruitment tool. If not that, then free for all.

      Re: Online Classified Ads

I have sold several items with ads placed on the classifieds. All via email which I like. I don't use the Driveline. I used it once 25 years ago to sell a few items. Plus I hate getting phone calls. If somebody wants it, email me and we do a deal.....Done. I don't really have time to parse through the pages looking for a particular item to buy in there too. If I do, I download the pdf and do string searches that way. These days I just view the driveline for the Vendor ads, WTB section, cars for sale, & Information wanted sections. Oh.... and always the Lectric Limited ad to see if my membership number is there! Someday I hope to see it!

The Classifieds audience is not as big as on ebay, corvetteforum, or even the Driveline, but there are advantages.

It gets a niche audience to look at my parts and cars for sale. As far as cost, I feel it's really quite minimal. I sell on Ebay on occasion. A love/hate relationship. If I sell a item on Ebay it costs me 13%. Outrageous now. 10% Ebay commission and a forced 3% Paypal fee. And BTW that INCLUDES what the buyer pays for shipping. That's 13% of say a $20 Fedex charge.

So, I sell 5 items on Ebay for $900, and say $20 each for shipping. Total sales $1000. That's $130 out of my pocket! If I sell them on the classifieds here, it costs me Ten Bucks for those same parts(@ $2.50 each). I think that's good value for me.

I have also sold many parts on CF over the last 5 years or so. Works ok. It's free, but it's still a hassle. I get PM's for a $50 part for sale with $8 USPS shipping. Whining and asking if I'd sell it for $35 INCLUDING shipping. Geesh gimme a break! The FREE AD crowd viewers want the items for nothing too! I stopped doing it there.

Many people asked for a new venue to sell parts here on the NCRS site. We have it now. It may not work for everyone, and it may cost a few bucks, but I like it.

This is my opinion, my feeling, my policy...........and I'm stickin' to it!

I guess I'm old fashion, Carlisle is my choice for buying and selling used or NOS. I just gotta see it before I buy. But for new I do shop e bay, Amazon and Corvette sites as well as others on the inter web. Typically I don't visit want ads.

I visit the site often, It works for me. It gives me another option to find, buy and sell. When I sell my parts I will support NCRS and use the site. I prefer my parts go to NCRS members. I also like that I am notified when something I am looking for is posted.

I used it to find a rare part that I had been searching for, it worked great.

I find the Search function a joke - unless you can quote the ad verbatim, the ad will not be found. The system appears to be one that was first used to protect access to nuclear secrets, obviously to silence those who wondered why it wasn't available. "Service to the members".......

Is it possible to edit an ad after it has been posted? I want to change mine a little, but I can't see how to do it.

That's all I look at as well but the odds of it happening are very slim. Especially when you consider that over 70% of the possible numbers chosen are no longer valid.

I tried the online classified ads without any success. I sell items on eBay and I agree with the love/hate relationship because of their high fees; however, at least you can list for free so you don't take a hit until you sell the item. With the fees for for the ads and the $10.00 hike in dues: Where is all this money going to?

I do not recall any membership vote to raise dues.

This should be a membership decision.

People saying the price is too low, but no takers? Strange.

New member, first post. I have been quietly searching for a car for just over a year now and 3 days ago placed a WTB ad. I thought the process was fairly simple and easy to follow, price to run the ad is reasonable. No responses just yet but hope something pans out. Have not placed a WTB ad anywhere else at this time.

I would also like to say how helpful this TDB has been, and thanks to all who have helped me learn about these cars along the way. Thanks again.

It is in what seems to be final stages of the sale. Others have said it was to cheap. I have no problem with the ad system. There just isn't a lot of ads considering the amount of conversation wanting NCRS to start the classified section.
